Western Massage Therapy, Theory and Practice

(100 Hr. over a four week period) The theory and science of modern western massage methods based on the Swedish style. The basic form and applications for the five principle techniques of squeezing, kneading, gliding, vibrating and striking will be exhaustivly covered for the back, neck, shoulders, hips, extremeties i.e. arms, legs, hands, feet and face. Indications and contra-indications, applications for common situations and problems as well as clinical procedures for various populations. Emphasis is on therapeutic applications through the specific techniques of NMT - Neuromuscular therapy, Cranial Sacral and Kineselogy, Dep Tissue and related modalities. This course is designed to prepare the student for the National Exams for Massage Therapy (NTMYBCB).

Planetary Herbology

Planetary Herbal Medicine
(140 Hr.) The 12 Lesson Home/ Independant Study Course in Herbal Medicine is suitable for : the beginning student interested in herbal medicine, someone pursuing a theoretical basis in the principles of Oriental Medicine and food therapy, or someone who sells, grows or manufactures herbal and health products. The course also lays the groundwork for completing the Professional Herbalist Certification Course. The Planetary Herbal Medicine Course consists of 12 lessons, and is accompanied by "The Way of Herbs", which provides the materia medica basis for the course. The course provides the essential principles of herbs, including diet, energy, tastes and the principles of disease and diagnosis within the frameworks of Western, Ayurvedic and Chinese medical systems. Herbal preparation, therapeutics and formulary are also covered. Western Anatomy and Physiology

Anatomy and Physiology Course
(100 Hr.) A Western Science Course for the Alternative Practitioner, written by Dr. Julie Williams, it is a comprehensive, college level training course. Anatomy and Physiology in Health and Illness by Ross & Wilson and The Physiology Coloring Book by Kapit are included with this course. Outline of main topics: Introduction to Anatomy & Physiology, Cells, Respiration, Gastrointestinal System, Nutrition, blood, Cardiovascular System, , Reproduction, Skin, Kidney, Homeostasis,Nervous System, Endocrine System, Eye and Ear,, Musculoskeletal System. The Thai Basic Course teaches the national spoken language in the dialect of educated speakers of Bangkok and Central Thailand. It starts with a programmed introduction to Thai phonology to acquaint you with the significant features of the language's sound system. When writing, the Thais use a complex system based on Sanskrit, but in the course a special phonetic transcription is used which will help you read and write more easily.
