New Standards for Recognition

Effective July 1, 2007 New US National Standard for Thai Yoga and Massage Practitioner Recognitions for Practitioner, Instructor and schools will go into effect. Full details on the New Levels and standards for reccognition will be posted on this site.

The new Standards for levels and professional recognitions are:

1) Affiliate Member: ( $49.95 Annual: Not including Hard Copy Membership Certificate) Non- Professional membership open to anyone with and interest in Thai Yoga, Thai Massage and Related.

2) Recognized Student: ( 1 to 30 Hours of training in specific approved modality, includes "tourist" programs such as ITM. Old Medicine Hospital, Wat Po, Lek Chaiya Nerve Touch, Asokananda/ Sunshine Network, Thai Yoga Massage. Student Level practitioners are not considered professional practitioners and may not present themselves as such. It is understood that Student level Recognitions are only valid while enrolled actively in an ITTA recognized program of Instruction.) ( $14.95 Annual: Not including Hard Copy Membership Certificate or Professional Liability Insurance)

3) Recognized Novice Thai Practitioner: (31 to 66 hours of training in specific approved modality from a recognized school. Recognized Novice Level practitioners are considered "Students" and are not considered professional practitioners and may not present themselves as such. It is understood that Student level Recognitions are only valid while enrolled actively in an ITTA recognized program of Instruction.) ( $35.00 Annual: Not including Hard Copy Membership Certificate or Professional Liability Insurance)

4) Recognized Basic Thai Practitioner: (67 to 172 hours of training in specific approved Thai modality, must have at least 66 hours certified from one recognized school or program.) (Applications must be supported with appropriate documentation, i.e. diploma's, certifications, etc.) Recognized Basic Thai Practitioner Level practitioners are considered "Intermediate Students" and are not considered professional practitioners and may not present themselves as such. (Unless qualified to practice as a professional some additional specialty and licensing which allows the Thai Practice as an adjunct modality: Primary licensing may be Nursing or other Medical licensing, Massage Therapy where licensing is required by State or Local law, Esthetician etc.) ( $35.00 Annual: Not including Hard Copy Membership Certificate or Professional Liability Insurance)

5) Certified Thai practitioner: (173-273 hours of training in specific approved Thai modality, must have at least 160 hours certified from one recognized school or program.) (Applications must be supported with appropriate documentation, i.e. diploma's, certifications, etc.) Recognized Thai Practitioner Level recognition is considered "Advanced Students" who may or may not be considered professional practitioners depending on degree of related training and or other professional licensing. (As laws and regulations which may or may not apply to Thai Yoga and or Thai Massage practitice. The Certified Practitioner may or may not be qualified to practice as a professional in some jurisdictions according to local standards and laws. It is the practitioners responsibility to legally practice. ITTA makes no warrenty as to the legality of practice in any specific jurisdiction. The accepted and current minimum national standard for most bodywork practices is 500 hours, with at least 250 hours from a single recognized program. ) ($49.95 Annual: Not including Hard Copy Membership Certificateor Professional Liability Insurance)

6) Certified Advanced Thai Practitioner: (274-500 hours of training in specific approved Thai modality, must have at least 250 hours certified from one recognized school or program.) (Applications must be supported with appropriate documentation, i.e. diploma's, certifications, etc.) Certified Advanced Thai Practitioner Level recognition is considered "Professional" who may or may not be considered professional practitioners depending on degree of related training and or other professional licensing. (As laws and regulations which may or may not apply to Thai Yoga and or Thai Massage practitice. The Certified Advanced Practitioner may or may not be qualified to practice as a professional in some jurisdictions according to local standards and laws. It is the practitioners responsibility to legally practice. ITTA makes no warrenty as to the legality of practice in any specific jurisdiction. 7) Certified Thai Therapists: ( 501+ hours or more of training in specific approved modality, must be from recognized programs issuing certificates with certified hours. must have at least 250 hours certified from one school.) (Applications must be supported with appropriate documentation, i.e. diploma's, certifications, etc.) Certified Thai Therapists Level recognition is considered "Professional" who may or may not be considered professional practitioners depending on degree of related training and or other professional licensing. (As laws and regulations which may or may not apply to Thai Yoga and or Thai Massage practitice. The Certified Advanced Practitioner may or may not be qualified to practice as a professional in some jurisdictions according to local standards and laws. It is the practitioners responsibility to legally practice. ITTA makes no warrenty as to the legality of practice in any specific jurisdiction. ( $55.00 Annual: Not including Hard Copy Membership Certificate or Professional Liability Insurance)

08) CERTIFIED MASTER THAI PRACTIONER: $100.00 ( (Certified Master Practitioner's must have maintained an active, uninterrupted, Certified Therapists grade membership level in ITTA for a minimum of 10 years to qualify. Must have a documented clinical practice using Thai Massage modality for a minimum of ten years, Be of good moral character. (Application submitted and approveed by ITTA Board of Advisors at National Convention.) (Applications must be supported with appropriate documentation, i.e. diploma's, certifications, etc.) ( $49.95 Annual: Not including Hard Copy Membership Certificateor Professional Liability Insurance)

09) Certified Thai Facilitator: (Certified to facilitate One Approved Class or level or more, but having less than 500 hours certification/ recognition in a specific modality.) (Please note: All Certified Facilitators must also hold and maintain a current Certified Thai Practioner or above ITTA membership level.) (Applications must be supported with appropriate documentation, i.e. diploma's, certifications, etc.) ( $49.95 Annual: Not including Hard Copy Membership Certificate)

10) CERTIFIED THAI INSTRUCTOR: $100.00 (Certified to facilitate four or more levels, but less than six or the equivilent of a full program sufficient to graduate a Student to ITTA Certified Thai Practitioner or Above level of recognition. Must be qualified to teach as evidenced by current certifications and recognitions to facilitate a specific approved curriculum which includes but is not limited to: Specific Modality of Basic , Intermediate and Advanced technique classes (Minimum of 4 classes) of not less than 150hours in one recognized style, Comprehensive Thai theory componant of not less than 16 hours, (Certified Instructors must hold and maintain a Certified Thai Therapists or above membership level.) (Applications must be supported with appropriate documentation, i.e. diploma's, certifications, etc.) ( $49.95 Annual: Not including Hard Copy Membership Certificate)

11) CERTIFIED THAI INSTRUCTOR ADVANCED: (Certified Instructor minimum, certified to teach and facilitate a full training, certification and or Diploma graduating qualifying students to Certified Advanced Thai Practitioner (274-500 hours) or above in an ITTA approved curriculum in a competent and professional manner. A proven orientation toward promoting and furthering the Thai Massage Way.) (Certified Instructors must hold and maintain a Certified Therapists or above membership level.) (Applications must be supported with appropriate documentation, i.e. diploma's, certifications, etc.) ( $49.95 Annual: Not including Hard Copy Membership Certificate)

13) CERTIFIED MASTER THAI INSTRUCTOR Honorary, No Dues (Certified Instructor Advanced minimum, Able to teach, certify and communicate Royal, Northern and or Eclectic Thai Bodywork Styles in a competent and professional manner. A proven orientation toward promoting and furthering the Thai Massage Way. Has graduated and or certified a minimum of five thousand students from a Level One or greater class. Must be published, of good moral character, has made substantial, documented, contributions toward furtherence of Thai Massage field and industry. (Applications submitted and approveed by ITTA Board of Advisors at National Convention.) ( $49.95 Annual: Not including Hard Copy Membership Certificate)

14) INSTITUTIONAL AND/OR SCHOOL MEMBER: $100.00 ( Special recognition for schools and professional sponsors that meet the highest standard and commitment in furthering the development of Thai Massage Programs.) The school or institutional applicant must have an active and in good standing, ITTA certified Facilitator or Instructor teaching all Thai Massage classes.) ( $49.95 Annual: Not including Hard Copy Membership Certificate)
