ITTA Personal Competancy Review Details

For NTYMBCB Applicants from either unknown, uncertified, unrecognized and or unregistered instructors, schools or programs:

ITTA rules require that only applicants from recognized programs and Certified Instructors which follow established procedures and curriculum in Thai Yoga and Massage are eligible for NTYMBCB National Certification, what do you do if your education is eclectic? This includes practitioners who have studied and who may have accumulated enough hours to qualify for membership and recognition but these hours are from many different courses and teachers some or all of whom may not themselves be recognized by ITTA. We recognize the possibility of developing a recognizable practice standard and competency in this fashion and wish to give these types of individuals a fair chance at recognition and membership.

We have just instituted a new policy for applicants such as your self. Its quite simple really. There are two options available for Practitioner and Instructor applicants from unrecognized or uncertified Instructors and or schools/ programs:

A) Contact your director or chief Instructor and have them to submit for recognition either on a personal or better as an institution for certification as a recognized program. If and when they are approved and are certified then your credits will automatically be accepted according to existing guidelines for recognized programs. If this is not possible or they are unwilling to support you in this way. Then you have option "B".

B) You submit for a Personal Competency Review in one of two situations:

1) Apply for Personal Competency Review at an ITTA sponsored or approved class, workshop or National Conference on Thai Yoga and Thai Massage ( next one, August 13th-15th, 2010.) , The PCR consists of a Portfolio review of your relevant credentials , certifications and experience, sitting for a Board examination of three parts: written, oral and practical. Upon successful completion of the PCR you will be recognized individually at the appropriate level for your expertise and competency. Please note: there is absolutely no guarantee that placement will be made! The whole purpose is to objectively determine competency and understanding. If these are not up to the standard being applied for then the applicant will not be approved at the level being applied for.

2) Or, schedule the same Personal Competency Review ( PCR) on an individual basis any time, at ITTA's office for a $200.00 fee. If you choose option 1), to attend the conference and schedule there, the fee for the review is $100.00.

For further information regarding the PCR or to schedule a PCR, please call the office at (706) 358-8646
